The Newport Performing Arts Center is a major attraction and fosters a venue with many different art formats including live theater performances, orchestra and other music events, dance and singing entertainment as well as many other events scheduled throughout the year. The Newport Performing Arts Center was opened in 1988 and offers 23,000 total square feet in a facility built on a 4.5 acre parcel. The Center features a multiuse facility with a main auditorium seating up to 390 people, a smaller theater room seating up to 100 people, a lobby area, actor’s lounges and dressing rooms, costume and scene shops, additional storage facilities, and space for administrative offices. The Center is home to the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA or Coast Arts), the organization responsible for scheduling and managing the facility in conjunction with the support of the City of Newport.
