The City of Newport - Highway 101 Commercial Corridor

The City of Newport abounds with many shopping resources enhancing the quality of the life found on the Oregon Coast. While the areas of Nye Beach and the Newport Bayfront individually contain excellent shopping attractions, the commercial corridor along Highway 101 supports the core of the fantastic merchant services offered in the Newport Area. The northern end of the corridor features several strip malls with anchor retailers marketing general merchandise and grocery based products. Also, these malls host many small retail stores and restaurants providing additional choices for the people residing in the nearby neighborhoods as well as for commuters. Continuing south, the commercial properties include other small retailers and office buildings, drive-up merchant and restaurant services, government facilities and roadside lodging establishments. The junction point of Highway 20 and Highway 101 highlights the center of downtown Newport. Many of Lincoln County’s Government Buildings are located a few blocks from this intersection as well as Newport’s City Hall Complex. Heading south towards the bridge, the corridor features more commercial properties plus highway turn-out access to the local hospital sited a few blocks on the east side of the Highway 101 in the southern portion of the downtown area.
