The Community of South Beach - Thiel Creek Area

South of the Newport Municipal Airport and the Development of Pacific Shores, the central section of the Community of South Beach features additional residential neighborhoods found on both sides of Highway 101. The neighborhoods are bordered by Moore Creek to the north and Thiel Creek to the south. The residential neighborhood area on the east side of Highway 101 is accessible via 98TH Street and features interior treed lots spread over several streets. On the west side of Highway 101, several small streets are available off the highway with individual lot views of South Beach and the ocean. Also, this neighborhood area includes several commercial properties set near the highway featuring a winery and coastal lodging properties. Continuing south towards the Lost Creek State Recreation Site, the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway moves closer to the ocean and provides scenic views of the white water surf. Thiel Creek runs down the coastal hillsides and heads west out to the ocean. The area bordering Thiel Creek itself is largely undeveloped and features beautiful stands of coastal evergreen pines located on the surrounding hillsides overlooking the ocean.
