Wakonda Beach State Airport - Beachside State Recreation Site
The South Waldport Community Area is known for its wonderful stretches of sandy shorelines extending southward from Yaquina John Point to the Community of Yachats, and includes several beach strands known as Big Stump Beach and Wakonda Beach. This section of coastline features small residential pocket neighborhoods built on both sides of Highway 101 overlooking the ocean surf. The Big Stump Beach Area is situated just south of the Governor Patterson Memorial State Recreation Site, and also connects to the beach strand of Wakonda Beach to the south. The Wakonda Beach State Airport is owned by the Oregon Department of Aviation and offers an unattended facility with a turf landing strip. The Wakonda Beach Area contains a small number of oceanfront home sites plus other property locations developed on the surrounding hillsides. The Beachside State Recreation Site is an Oregon State Park providing seasonal camping facilities along the ocean shores.
