The Community of Seal Rock - Seal Rock Wayside

Leaving the Ona Beach State Park Area and the Development of Huckleberry Hill, the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway moves closer to the ocean-facing bluffs as it works its way south into the north end of the Community of Seal Rock. The area just north of Deer Creek features mostly ocean front home sites set overlooking the beach strand in the north end of Seal Rock. This narrow beach strand stretches from the Ona Beach State Park to the north all the way southward to the Seal Rock State Recreation Site at the center of Seal Rock. Most of these home sites are located along Highway 101 and are directly accessible to the highway. Just south of Deer Creek, the Seal Rock Wayside is located on the west side of Highway 101. The Seal Rock Wayside is part of the Lincoln County Parks and Recreation Department and features beach access and a small parking area with limited parking spaces. The beach access allows visitors the opportunity to head north up the beach strand towards Ona Beach State Park or south towards the Seal Rock State Recreation Site. The south direction offers beachgoers with a view of the many offshore rocks and sea stacks making up the north section of the Seal Rocks offshore rock formations, a protected part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. The Seal Rock Wayside is a popular place for beachcombing and clam digging activities as well. Heading south of the Seal Rock Wayside, Highway 101 shortly enters into the main business corridor of Seal Rock and its roadside businesses set along the highway.
