Lincoln Beach - Fogarty Creek State Recreation Site |
|||||||||||||
| One of the highlights of the Lincoln Beach Area is the Fogarty Creek State Recreation Site, a part of the Oregon State Parks and Recreation System. The Pacific Coast Scenic Byway cuts through the park forming two sides joined by an Under the Bridge Pathway Connector. A running creek winds its way from the east side of the park and heads westward through the connector, and eventually drains out into the Pacific Ocean. The design of the park incorporates the creek within and features picnic tables located near the streaming water. In addition, the park design contains wooden footbridges which lead over the creek, and a foot path trail that runs along the creek as it heads westward towards the beach. The parks east side amenities offer several paved parking lots, restrooms facilities, wooden picnic tables, walking trails and grass lawns, and a day-use group shelter. The wind-protected picnic grounds are nice as they are situated amongst beautiful evergreen trees growing in the park. Fogarty Creek State Recreation Site is accessible off Highway 101 with two entrances into the park. The parks west side contains the cliff-rimmed beach area and the ocean cove. The beach area is a well-liked spot for recreation activities and outdoor hobbies including beach combing and agate hunting, bird watching, tide pool exploration, beachside lounging and reading, and beach sports such as volleyball. Due to the location of the creek and the enclosed beach area, the park is a popular place for dog activities. The dogs are thrilled to splash in the creek or run along the beach and the oncoming waves. The beach area ends and the rocky shorelines take hold as they form the coastline heading south towards Boiler Bay and the City of Depoe Bay. |
