Salishan Residential Communities
The Salishan Area was started as a resort community in the 1960s and over time the development has evolved into one of the nicest residential communities situated along the Central Oregon Coast. The Salishan Area has been shaped by nature to form a unique setting with different view amenities throughout the residential community. The Siletz River flows westward and meets the Siletz Bay Estuary to the northeast of the Salishan Development. This area is home to the Siletz Bay Natural Wildlife Refuge, a protected area of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Salishan Area abuts the south end of the Siletz Bay Estuary, offering residents with spectacular views of both the calm waters of the bay and the white water surf of the Pacific Ocean. The Salishan Spit creates the western edge of the Siletz Bay Estuary and borders the Pacific Ocean and the long beach strand of Gleneden Beach. The natural setting of the Salishan Area is host to a variety of wildlife and plant species. The daily tidal cycle of the Siletz Bay Estuary creates different biological zones that harbor many species including waterfowl, wading birds, shorebirds, mammals, shellfish, salmon and steelhead. With the tidal influenced Siletz Bay and the Pacific Ocean constantly in motion, the Salishan Area provides its residents with a special opportunity to enjoy the surrounding water settings and the spectacular natural wildlife of the Oregon Coast.
