Gleneden Beach and Lincoln Beach
The residential communities of Gleneden Beach and Lincoln Beach are influenced primarily by the location of Highway 101 and the area’s contiguous beach strand that runs in a north to south direction. The south end of the beach starts on the north side of Fishing Rock in Lincoln Beach, and runs northward to the end of the Salishan Spit in Gleneden Beach. The beach and Highway 101 form a large section of residential developments and neighborhoods set along the coast. Both Gleneden Beach and Lincoln Beach are served by the county government offices of Lincoln County. While the residential communities offer many beach access points, the area is home to several nice Oregon State Parks. In Gleneden Beach, the Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site provides many amenities including beach access, restrooms, spacious parking, and outdoor picnic areas. The Lincoln Beach Area has two Oregon State Park facilities including the Fogarty Creek State Recreation Area and Fishing Rock State Park. The State Park at Fogarty Creek offers a wonderful place for picnicking near the ocean and features both open and covered picnic grounds. Also Fogarty Creek runs through the park area and eventually heads west over the beach into the ocean cove. The protected cliff-rimmed cove helps to close off the beach area, making it a popular place for outdoor recreation use including beachcombing and agate hunting, beachside lounging and reading, volleyball and dog walking activities. The Fishing Rock State Park provides a trail that leads out to the rock formations of Fishing Rock and the spectacular views of the ocean and coastline. Fishing Rock is popular for its scenic photograph opportunities and the basalt rocks that offer an excellent location for ocean surf fishing off the rocks.
