Cascade Head Experimental Forest and Scenic Research Area
The Cascade Head Experimental and Scenic Research Area is part of the Siuslaw National Forest and includes the Experimental Forest, the Cascade Head Scenic Research Area, two prairie headlands, the Salmon River Estuary and some privately owned land. The area supports a diverse habitat for a variety of wildlife species including four federally listed endangered species. Also, from a geographic standpoint, the county line that separates Tillamook County and Lincoln County is located within this section of the Siuslaw National Forest. The main prairie headland is named Cascade Head, and it juts out into the Pacific Ocean. This headland offers hikers and photo hobbyists with incredible viewpoints of the Oregon Coast. The area features two main hiking trails, one of which takes you out to the end of the Cascade Headland, and offers outdoor enthusiasts with amazing panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Salmon River Estuary.
