Siletz Bay Estuary - Siletz River Communities

The Siletz Bay Estuary dominates the local landscape between Lincoln City and Gleneden Beach. The Siletz River is one the main focal points of this natural scenic area. The Siletz River winds its way through mountains, stands of evergreen trees and even goes by a coastal rain forest, eventually flowing into the tidal zones of the Siletz Bay Estuary. The river’s long journey ends at the Siletz Bay near Kernville. The Siletz River attracts residential housing locations all along the river’s edge providing residents with another option for water views, and access to the river for boating and fishing activities. Two communities are located at the entry point of the Siletz River where it meets the Siletz Bay near Highway 101 and the Kernville Bridge. The first community is known as Kernville and its pioneer heritage/history includes the first white settlement in North Lincoln County, a fishing cannery on the north bank, and a spruce sawmill used during World War One. The town now is a quaint riverside community with a small amount of housing, a restaurant and a boat launch. The Siletz River is one of Lincoln County’s most frequented fishing areas with various runs of Salmon and Steelhead, and Kernville is a prime location for accessing the river. The second community is located on the west side of Highway 101 and is named the Siletz Keys. The development features home sites set along the Siletz River and the Siletz Bay. Most of the homes have docks built for accessing the waterways of the Siletz River or the Siletz Bay. Access to the Siletz Keys is located off Highway 101, just south of the Kernville Bridge.
