The City of Newport - The Newport City Center District

The City of Newport abounds with excellent shopping resources, generally located along the route of Highway 101. The north end of this business corridor features several strip malls housing anchor retailers marketing general merchandise and grocery based products. Continuing south, the business corridor includes specialty retailers and dining establishments, overnight lodging properties, and office space supporting small business and government services. The corridor eventually meets the junction point of Highway 101 and Highway 20, a key intersection found within the Newport City Center District. This district area is home to many of Lincoln County’s Government Buildings including the Newport City Hall Complex and the Lincoln County Courthouse. The district area is known for its buildings displaying art deco influences. A printed guide is available for observing some of the key art deco highlights found in the area through a self-guided tour. The hospital and other medical office buildings are found at the southern end of the corridor.
