Oregon State Parks in the Waldport Area - Wakonda Beach Area

The Governor Patterson Memorial State Recreation Site is located in the Waldport Area and offers such amenities as a paved parking lot, restrooms and picnic areas, and access to miles of sandy shorelines either heading northward towards the mouth of the Alsea Bay or southward towards the beach strand of Big Stump Beach. Big Stump Beach is a beach area located between the Patterson State Park and Wakonda Beach to the south, and is named after a large tree stump that once washed ashore, settling on the beach for years. The Wakonda Beach Area features a nice beach strand plus the Wakonda Beach State Airport. The airport is an unattended airstrip with a turf runway. Heading southward are the park facilities of the Beachside State Recreation Site, another Oregon State Park set along the ocean shores. The park offers a Day Use Area with beach access plus seasonal overnight tent sites with campground amenities. South of the park, the Big Creek Estuary Area serves as the transition point between the communities of Waldport and Yachats.
