The City of Yachats - North Yachats Community Area

Crossing over the bridge at the Big Creek Estuary, the southward course of the Pacific Coast Scenic Byway shortly meets up with the USFS Tillicum Beach Campground located on the west side of the highway. The U.S. Forest Service manages the campground as part of the Siuslaw National Forest. A portion of the campground is open for year round use with another section open during the summer season only. Key campground amenities include 60 camping sites, piped drinking water, flush toilet facilities, fire rings and picnic tables, and access to the beach strand of Tillicum Beach. Across from the campground on the east side of Highway 101 is the Angell Job Corp Center, a part of the Job Corp Organization. The Center is part of a federally funded program set-up to provide job training and education services to disadvantaged youth. The north end of the Yachats Community features small neighborhood sections built near the beach strands of Tillicum Beach and Sandy Beach. The Community Area of San Marine is a small residential area set along the ocean featuring a variety of home sites on both sides of the highway as well as providing community access to the beach. The San Marine Community Area draws from its history as an early pioneer settlement in the Yachats Area and today still maintains its quaint seaside appeal. The north end of the Yachats Community includes Vingie Creek and Starr Creek, two small creeks that run from the hillsides to the ocean, providing another wonderful natural setting for residential development in the Yachats Area.
