Agate Beach Golf Course - Agate Beach State Recreation Site
South of Yaquina Head, the beach sands of Agate Beach and Nye Beach accumulates together forming the contiguous western shoreline found within the City of Newport. Beach access to the north end of Agate Beach is available through the Lucky Gap Trail, a part of the Newport’s Parks and Recreation System. Further south on the east side of Highway 101 is the Agate Beach Golf Course, a public golf course featuring a nine-hole layout overlooking the Agate Beach Area. The facility offers many golfing amenities including a pro shop with equipment and golf cart rentals, a coffee shop, a practice area with a driving range, and on-site teaching professionals. One of the popular Oregon State Parks found in the Newport Area is the Agate Beach State Recreation Site. The park grounds contain day use beach access plus other amenities including picnic tables, two paved parking areas, public restrooms, open lawn areas and a tunnel built under the highway for accessing both sides of the facility. Also, the park connects to a nature trail leading eastward under Highway 101, eventually ending up at the Newport Reservoir and the Big Creek City Park.
