The tour captures the awe-inspiring beauty of the many beach strands and rugged headlands found within the beach communities of Newport and South Beach. The coastal landscape located within this section of the Oregon Coast has been shaped by the continuous forces of the ocean waves meeting the shoreline. Also, this topography has been shaped by the fresh water run-offs from the surrounding coastal mountains including the waters from the Yaquina River and the Yaquina Bay as well as the plentiful creeks located up and down the coastline.

The Newport and South Beach Communities draw much of their heritage to the early homesteaders and pioneers that found a bounty of natural resources on the Yaquina Bay. The Newport Bayfront is still an active working Bayfront and affords visitors with a historical sense of life on the Yaquina Bay. The Yaquina Bay Bridge continues to be a marvel of bridge design and architecture while the Yaquina Jetty System allows its citizens with a safer working life on the ocean. The Yaquina Head and the Yaquina Bay Lighthouses continue to protect sailors in the shipping lanes offshore and instill a great sense of pride within the community.

The many miles of sandy beaches located in Newport and South Beach are some of the finest beaches found along the Oregon Coast. The broad expanse of the beaches provide an ideal setting to enjoy the fresh air of the ocean and the sounds of the white water surf while finding a personal solitude on the beach. Further enhancing the beach experience is the opportunity to observe many forms of natural wildlife living on or near the ocean waters and offshore rock formations.

The tour covered the fabulous amenities of the Greater Newport Area and the neighboring cities of Toledo and Siletz. Also, the tour reviewed the many residential living options found along the Yaquina Bay and the coastal neighborhoods situated along the beach sands of South Beach. The tour highlighted the tremendous State and Federal Park Areas that dominate this section of the Oregon Coast further adding to the high quality of life. While remaining an important economic region on the Oregon Coast, the many cultural arts and outdoor recreation activities found here contribute to making this an ideal community for living the Oregon Coast Dream in a truly remarkable setting.
